“How can the Port of Palm Beach rethink and set forth the new Port vision to ensure its commercial commitment by 2042?”
This is the central question posed by the Port of Palm Beach and its consultants as it embarks on the strategic Master Plan Update for the Port.
The Port of Palm Beach, along with its consultants Moffatt & Nichol, are developing a new, strategic master plan that will pave the way for the future of the Port. Located in Riviera Beach, Florida, the Port of Palm Beach is a full-service, diversified landlord port with marine cargo and cruise passenger operations of significant impact on the local area and the State of Florida; it is the fourth-busiest container port of Florida’s 14 deep-water ports and the 18th busiest in the continental United States.
The Port is embarking on a significant redevelopment and upgrading of intermodal facilities and other improvements funded in part through various government grant programs. As such, the Port seeks a forward-looking strategic Master Plan focusing on and coordinating of the following requirements: economic development; infrastructure development and improvement; intermodal transportation facilities; physical, environmental, and regulatory barriers; and intergovernmental coordination. Public engagement opportunities are woven into the strategic master planning process to inform, educate, and collaborate with senior staff, stakeholders, public, and intergovernmental agencies throughout the planning process.
The project kickoff began in late fall 2021, with the entirety of 2022 focused on plan readiness. The draft plan will be available in August 2022 with the final strategic Master Plan complete by December 2022. The effort will include two public engagement opportunities, the first of which starts May 23 and lasts through July 7.
Through the project website – www.planportofpalmbeach.com – the community can learn more about the project, participate in a short survey on the Port’s role in the community, attend the online livestreaming portion of the hybrid public meetings, and sign-up for project email blasts. Public meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, June 1st from 11- 1 PM on the 6th floor of the Maritime Office Complex and Thursday, June 2nd from 6 PM- 8 PM at the Riviera Beach Event Center.
Each public meeting session will provide the same presentation, offering several opportunities for the public to attend. The meetings will be recorded and available for viewing on the project website.
While this first public engagement period will focus on the community’s desire for the Port of Palm Beach, the second engagement period will encourage the community to weigh in on several initial master plan concepts for the Port. The second public engagement period will occur from August 29 until October 13 and include a second public survey and series of hybrid public meetings.
We invite you to be a part of this important conversation. Please visit our website at www.planportofpalmbeach.com to learn more and contact the Project Team with any questions or comments.
