Port Executive Director celebrates 14 years at Port of Palm Beach

Join us in celebrating the man at the helm of Florida's 4th busiest container port.
On July 14, 2008, Manuel Almira, PPM began his journey as Port of Palm Beach Executive Director. This month, we thank him for all his hard work, dedication & contribution to the shipping industry. During his 14 year tenure, Almira has transformed the Port of Palm Beach into a profitable seaport that supports more than 3,800 direct jobs, processes $14 billion in commodities and serves as a lifeline to the people living in the Caribbean.

Thank you to the over 250 people who took Survey 1 as part of our Public Engagement Period! Survey results are available on the website for public viewing.This survey feedback has been reviewed by the Port Planning Team and will be considered as the Team works through the draft Strategic Master Plan. The Port Planning Team will share the draft Strategic Master Plan as part of Public Engagement Period 2 (PEP2). PEP2 will commence mid-August and will offer an updated project website, hybrid public meetings, and a second survey for you to review the initial planning concepts and provide feedback once again. This second round of feedback will be valuable as we work together to create the final Strategic Master Plan.

You can check out Tenant Spotlight videos, flip through the Port's Centennial Book, learn more about the Port's continuing community outreach, and sign up to take a tour at the Port!

Sign-up for in-person tour ahead of Master Plan public meetingsThe Port of Palm Beach will be offering port tours to individuals who would like to learn more about the Port prior to the Master Plan Public Meetings scheduled for September 2022. Please note, each tour can accommodate 10 guests. Additional tours can be added, as needed. The tours are scheduled for: - Wednesday, September 7, 2022: 9:00 AM and 5:30 PM

Cargo Tonnage Report
Highlights for the month of May 2022:
-Vessel calls increased by 17.5% over the previous year
-TEUs increased slightly by 4.8% when compared to the same period last year (YTD).
-Total railcars (YTD) have increased by 17.5% from approximately 9,100 to 10,700 (YTD).
-All cargo tonnage, except raw sugar and molasses, increased 12.6% (YTD).
- Congratulations to Port Contractors, South Florida Materials, Stonerock Shipping, Tropical Shipping, and Host Agency who are all handling more tonnage.

Welcome aboard Thania Watler.
Thania joins us from Overtime Building and Maintenance Services, where she would regularly maintain the offices in the Maritime Office Complex.
The former certified nurse assistant, changed careers two years ago to spend more time with her four children.
Originally from Honduras, she immigrated to the U.S. when she was just 12 years old. She is now a resident of West Palm Beach.
She enjoys cooking, entertaining family and friends, dancing and reading a good book.
Thania says she was interested in working at the at the Port because employees made her feel welcomed and appreciated.
Her official start date is July 28.
