Help save Florida manatees A representative with the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida recently updated the Port of Palm Beach Board of Commissioners on the record number of manatee deaths. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, more than 1,000 died during 2021. A majority of the manatees died due to starvation caused by a lack of seagrasses in the Indian River Lagoon.
The organization is currently raising money to support the supplemental feeding trail, habitat restoration, and rescue and rehabilitation to respond to the crisis in the Indian Riviera Lagoon.
You can help give a manatee a meal by donating to the organization.

Meet our newest employee Gilda McCarty is no stranger to the Port of Palm Beach. If you have ever called our main office, you've most likely heard her pleasant voice on the other end of the line.
She was first hired as a temporary receptionist in July 2021. During her time as a temp, Gilda proved she belonged at the Port. Her skills, positive attitude, friendly personality and willingness to learn, made her the perfect addition to the Port family. Gilda, who lives in Riviera Beach, became a full-time Port employee on March 10.
