Interns Explore Various 

Seaport Operations

Thank you Palm Beach Harbor Pilots for giving our interns a once in a lifetime experience. 

Interns Gabriel Vazquez, Nestor Flores, Paula Manjarres and Taylor Nance toured the Pilot Station and rode along aboard cruise and cargo ships. The pilots were able to demonstrate their daily duties such as ship handling through the Lake Worth Inlet Entrance Channel and the day-to- day operations of running a Pilot Station. 

Our summer interns visited Tropical Shipping’s headquarters for a presentation on the different services and aspects of the company. They also toured the warehouse and had a sit-down lunch with VP of Commercial and Trade Tim Martin and Director of Government and Community Affairs Jennifer Nugent-Hill. Martin and Nugent-Hill gave the interns ideas of how their majors can help them succeed in the shipping and maritime industries.

Another day! Another Port outing! 

Port of Palm Beach's summer interns had the opportunity of going on an E.N. BIsso & Son tractor-tug tour right here in the Port of Palm Beach. Their tour included viewing the crew's living quarters, the engine room, and the wheelhouse. Through this experience, they realized the impactful role and functions that tractor tugs play in the maritime industry.

On Wednesday, July 12, Port of Palm Beach Interns, Public Information Officer Yaremi Farinas, and Director of Planning Carl Baker toured the Port's 100,000 square foot cold storage facility operated by Merchants Market. Merchants Market is a “full-service food company that provides personalized and efficient service”. Thank you Merchants Market for showing Port of Palm Beach Interns a behind-the-scenes look at how food gets to the table!

Heavy Lift Services is a valued stevedore company that handles cargo with great care and excellent service to boot. 

Joe Dias, the Operations Manager, was kind enough to give all our interns a tour of a the roll-on/ roll-off cargo ship Duke of Top Sail. The interns viewed the vessel's interior and ask substantive questions about the methods they use.

On Wednesday, June 28, CEMEX unveiled its new unloader wrapped in images of manatees. This project was a partnership between CEMEX and Friends of Manatee Lagoon, a non-profit organization “dedicated to educating the community about the challenges Manatees encounter in Florida.” Port of Palm Beach District Board Commissioner Blair Ciklin, attended the unveiling along with Public Information Officer Yaremi Farinas, and Communications Interns Alex Watson and Finance Bonheur. 

What a great way to bring awareness to manatee safety!

New Tenant Request Form

The Port of Palm Beach has created a Tenant Request Form that will allow tenants to submit a work order when they need our staff and/or Facilities team to address an issue in and around the Port. 

Please understand work orders will be fulfilled based on the requirements within your agreement.

Dreyfoos School of the Arts student, Joey DiMare, came to film a few scenes at the Port of Palm Beach for a movie project. Tropical Shipping was able to open a container for DiMare, allowing him to get the perfect shot! 

Two other local students were the actors in the film.
