Summer Internship Applications

The Port of Palm Beach is offering a summer internship to students with an interest in learning about the port industry. The six-week paid internship program will introduce interns to varies career fields within the port industry and teach them valuable skills that can easily translate to any career.

Applications will be accepted through the month of April to Friday, May 5, 2023. To be eligible, applicants must be over 18 years old, a 2023 high school graduate or enrolled in trade school, college or university. 


Every week during the program, the Port will host a “Port Activity Day” where interns will have a chance to explore different terminals and learn about port-related business beyond their primary duties.

Public Information Officer Yaremi Farinas at Palm Beach Gardens High School Career Fair

Public Information Officer Yaremi Farinas, who is spearheading the internship program, has spent the past month promoting the program. She attended a career fairs at Palm Beach Gardens High School and will be visiting Everglades Preparatory Academy on Thursday, April 20th. Farinas also shared the internship program information with all Palm Beach County High School principals and local trade schools, colleges and universities. 

We encourage all port tenants to spread the word. Applications close Friday, May 5, 2023 at 5 PM.

Florida Atlantic University International Business Students Get Inside Look Port Industry Careers

This month Florida Atlantic University students toured the Port of Palm Beach to learn how the port operates. 
The international business students heard from Tropical Shipping VP of Commercial and Trades Tim Martin, who spoke with them about the diverse career opportunities in the shipping and logistics business.

Martin, who began his career with Tropical Shipping in 1989, is a prime example of a college graduate who turned his first professional job opportunity into a long successful career. 
With support from the Florida Hispanic American Chamber Palm Beach County, the Port of Palm Beach and Tropical Shipping have agreed to host FAU's International Business students every semester.

Port Commissioners Support Florida Bicycle Month

Port Commissioners Dr. Deandre Poole and Wayne Richards and Public Information Officer Yaremi Farinas participated in the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency's Florida Bicycle Month Ride that was held Friday, March 31st in Downtown West Palm Beach.

During the March 16th Regular Board of Commissioners Meeting, the Port of Palm Beach District Board of Commissioners adopted a proclamation recognizing March as Florida Bicycle Month.
Florida Bicycle Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling and encourage more people to give bicycling a try.

Dr. Deandre Poole, who is a member of the Palm Beach TPA Governing Board, presented the proclamation to the TPA's Director of Public Relations Melissa Murray. Murray thanked Port Commissioner Dr. Poole for sponsoring the proclamation and thanked the entire board for their support.
