During the September Board of Commissioners meeting, the board received insight on the developments of the Port of Palm Beach's Draft Master Plan.

Board Chairman Blair Ciklin

"This 20-year Master Plan in particular, is highly significant because of the recent changes that have occurred at the Port since the last Master Plan in 2017," said Board Chairman Blair Ciklin.

"We have a new cruise operator, Margaritaville at Sea, the construction of a new cement terminal, and proposed plans to expand our mega yacht berth and intermodal rail facility," Chairman Ciklin said.

The Draft Master Plan will be available to the public on September 30th.

"Port of Palm Beach staff and our Master Plan consultant, Moffatt & Nichol, will continue to work with our tenants, users, neighboring municipalities and townships, Palm Beach County and the public to ensure everyone is part of the Master Plan discussion," Chairman Ciklin said.

Public Engagement Period 2, which commences September 30, offers an updated project website, hybrid public meetings, and a second survey for you to review the initial planning concepts and provide feedback once again. This second round of feedback will be valuable as we work together to create the final Strategic Master Plan.

The Public Meetings will be held:

Tuesday, October 11th 6:00- 8:00 PM at the Riviera Beach Marina Event Center located at 200 E 13th Street, Riviera Beach, FL. 33404

Wednesday, October 12th 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM at the Port's Maritime Office Complex located at One East 11th Street Suite 600, Riviera Beach, FL. 33404.

Strategic planning by Port Commissioners and staff ensures no taxes for residents in Port District

For the 47th consecutive year, the Port of Palm Beach District Board of Commissioners voted to NOT levy any Ad Valorem taxes on the residents in the District.

"
The Port of Palm Beach has remained financially self- sufficient since 1975. I am pleased my fellow commissioners have continued to support this trend of unimposing a property tax," said Board
Chairman Ciklin said.

The Port of Palm Beach District has strategically managed to maintain the port's facilities and invest in capital projects, without using taxes from residents in the district.

The district consists of 971 square miles or approximately 50% of Palm Beach County.

The Port of Palm Beach is an economic engine, not only for the City of Riviera Beach and Palm Beach County, but for the greater South Florida Region.  Annually, the Port processes more than $14 billion in commodities. Almost 80% of all goods passing through the port are exported to the island in the Caribbean.
