The Port of Palm Beach 100 Year Anniversary will conclude this year with a Centennial Gala on October 10, 2015. This gala will highlight the port’s past, present and future, and commemorate the individuals, companies and organizations who have been a part of its history. The port had many sponsors pledge to support this year of celebration and gala finale, and would like to specially thank CH2M for being the Platinum Sponsor.
The engineering firm CH2M HILL (CH2M), through the Gee & Jenson legacy, has been an integral part of the port’s development for nearly 65 years. The firm Gee & Jenson was founded by Herb Gee and Ted Jensen in 1951, with the Port of Palm Beach as one of its first clients.
The first project G&J handled for the port was the original design of the port's second slip (construction seen to the left). Since the 1951 project, the firm has helped the port design and implement major projects ranging from marine infrastructure and rail facilities, buildings, cruise terminals, and warehouses. Under the original direction of David Mock, and today, Casey Long, CH2M has become the engineering firm of record for the port's marine, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and general engineering needs over the years.
CH2M was established in 2001, through the acquisition of Gee & Jenson. The port was lucky enough to continue its relationship, as infrastructure improvement and new construction continues through today. Projects of late have included the waterfront infrastructure and site development that occurred after the 1996 acquisition of lands west of US 1 and construction of a third slip. Further, CH2M served as the primary consultant involved in the 2005 planning, design and construction of the South Cargo area, completed to increase warehouse capabilities and create a southern gate into the port. For 64 years, the port has relied on the professionalism, knowledge and talent of the dedicated team at CH2M to ensure its growth, stability and continued efficiency. On this 100 year milestone, the port looks forward to its next milestone: 100 years in partnership with CH2M.
