A former assistant city
attorney for the City of West Palm Beach, Wayne Richards brings a
background in engineering and law to his duties as a Port
Commissioner. A graduate of Howard
University, Richards spent seven years as a mechanical engineer with
Ford Motor Co. before attending law school at the University of
Michigan. He completed his law degree in 1995.
Richards served the City of
West Palm Beach for three years before
opening his downtown law offices, which are now located in Riviera Beach
a few blocks from the Port. He
still serves the City of West Palm Beach as a Special Master in the
field of code enforcement.
A long time community
activist, the New York native today is involved in a variety of
community and professional organizations. The former President of the Suncoast Chamber of Commerce and
Bayhill Estates Property Owners Association, Richards led the charge in the
Spring of 2000 for “Government for Tomorrow Political Action
Committee.” His campaign
successfully changed the election process for the Palm Beach County
School Board to single member districts.
Richards also serves the Board of Directors of Gulfstream
Goodwill Industries and is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar
Association and the F. Malcolm Cunningham, Sr. Bar Association.
